There are few things more stressful for a couple than trying to get pregnant and not succeeding. If you are experiencing infertility, you know that stress first hand – and the evidence suggests you are far from alone.
-
One study of two hundred couples experiencing infertility found that half of the women (and fifteen percent of the men) found the experience to be one of the most upsetting of their lives.
-
Another study of almost 500 women diagnosed with infertility concluded that they felt almost as as anxious or depressed as those diagnosed with cancer or hypertension, or recovering from a heart attack (Harvard Health Publications, May 2009)
We at South Lake ObGyn think it doesn’t have to be that way. While all couples coping with infertility will feel some sense of loss and stress, physicians like us can help alleviate those feelings through sensitive, patient-centered care.
Please know that all of the physicians at South Lake ObGyn are here to support you in every aspect of your journey toward parenthood. We call that support the three promises, and this is what they are:
Promise One: We will listen. From the day you tell us you are experiencing difficulty conceiving to the day you no longer need or want treatment, we will listen to your thoughts and concerns, your hopes and your fears. We will be there for you in your moments of sorrow and your moments of triumph. That’s promise one.
Promise Two: We will use the best evidence-based practices. If you undertake a new test or treatment plan, you can rest assured that we will have followed only the most recent, evidence-based practices that are considered best practices across the obstetrics and gynecology profession.
Promise Three: We will tailor best practices to your needs: We will always match the specifics of your evidence-based treatment plan to the specifics of your particular health profile, both physical and emotional. And this promise goes back to the first:
We will listen. We are there for you. We care.
